Police officers in Busia County have stepped up efforts to combat drug trafficking and cross-border crime, following the arrest of a suspected trafficker and the recovery of a large consignment of narcotics.

The operation, carried out near the Kenya–Uganda border in Busia Sub-County, saw officers intercept a motorcycle carrying three sacks of suspected cannabis sativa. The drugs, weighing approximately 100 kilograms, were seized and secured as evidence.
One suspect was arrested during the operation and is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment.
Authorities say the crackdown is part of a broader initiative to dismantle drug trafficking networks and safeguard communities. The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations to curb the illegal drug trade and protect public safety.
